The Raphael Court
V&A South Kensington, opened 2021
This permanent gallery at the V&A houses the Raphael Cartoons, seven full-scale designs that Raphael created for a series of tapestries for the Sistine Chapel. The major refurbishment of the gallery included a new interpretive approach to offer visitors a more in-depth engagement with the artworks, through digital gallery interpretation and three gallery books.
I edited all the interpretative materials for this gallery, including the wall panels and labels, the digital interactive and the three different gallery books – one for families, one exploring the history of the Cartoons, and one exploring the meaning behind Raphael’s images.
