Laughing Matters: The State of a Nation
V&A South Kensington, opened 2019
This free, permanent display in the Britain galleries reflects on the role of humour in debates around identity, empire and power over the past 200 years. Through TV clips, interviews with comedians, costumes, scripts, puppets and music, the display explores what comedy can tell us about Britishness, and what it means to be British today.
I edited all the interpretive text for the display.
